This family was first recorded in Ollersett, Derbyshire in 1433, in the parish of Glossop, two men: Roger de Bradbury and Rodolphus de Bradbury were recorded as living there. Robert Bradbury and his family moved to Essex, he had two possibly three sons.

Note: Cutter in his "Historic Homes" states: "Robert Bradbury, of Ollerset in Derbyshire, married a daughter of Robert Davenport, of Bramhall, county of Chester. She was buried at Stansted, Mount Fitchet, county Essex. He was born as early as the year 1400. Children: 1. William, of Braughing, married Margaret Rockhill. 2. Thomas, inducted rector of Meesdon, county Essex, February 6, 1486; died 1513."
