Origins

George Braddock was born on 1832 in LOCATION to James Braddock and Mary Evans.

On January 21st, 1860, the schooner Vistula from Melbourne disembarked T. W. Braddock, Jane Braddock and George Braddock in Nelson. New Zealand.[1]

A few months later, George Braddock was granted his application for a gold miner's licence in the Collingwood gold fields "In conformity with the 7th clause of the “Gold Fields’ Act. 1858, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant leases for Gold mining purposes of the Crown Lands specified in the following applications. No: 10 Applicants - Thomas Hopwood, George Hambrook, and George Braddock. Locality - Golden Gully. Area - Three acres. In a rectangular block within the limits of W. E. Washbourne's application No. 8, the boundary commencing at a marked peg called Washbourne's peg, distant 80 links from the West bank of the Golden Gully stream, thence S. 76 ° 30’ E., crossing the stream, 550 links, thence N. 13 ° 30’ E. 550 links, thence N. 76 ° 30’ W., recrossing the stream, 550 links, and thence S. 13 30' W. 550 links to Washbourne’s peg. No. 11"' [2]
