The following is from Leakey's "The Tenmile Country (Pa.) & Its Pioneer Famlies" pages 414 and 415: "THE BRADFORD FAMILY Robert Bradford was the pioneer ancestor of the family of that name, who settled in what is now Franklin Township, at the head of Sugar Run, where in 1785, he patented a tract of land under the name "Pleasure". It is probable that Robert Bradford was a native of Rock Creek Hundred, Prince Georges County, Maryland, where the family is found with the. Hooks, Slaters, Thrashers, and other Tenmile settlers, in the early part of the 18th Century. He was born in 1730, and died about 1802, his will being probated in Greene County on October 11, 1802. B. pp. 281, dated November 5, 1822, mentions his wife, Elizabeth, son, James, and three daughters, not named; also indicates they owned property in Ohio. John Fee was lieutenant under Captain James Archer. 2. Dinah Bradford. Married Thomas Heavrin and lived in Bracken County, Kentucky. James Bradford, born in 1754, called eldest son, died April 18, 1822, aged 68 years, 3 months, 18 days, buried with first wife on the old James Bradford Farm. He served in Captain James Archer's Militia Company. He married (1) Barbara ........................, who died March 10, 1816, aged 51 years, and 15 days. James Bradford then married Catherine ........................, born 1779, died September 7, 1844. She is buried in the old cemetery in East Waynesburg. Children 1. John Bradford, lived in Jackson Township, Greene County. His wife was Cassandra (Dye ?) 2. Robert Bradford, born 1791, died November 12, 1857, aged 66 years, 10 months, 24 days. His wife was Nancy Wells, who died September 14, 1856, aged 62 years, 6 months. 3. James Bradford, married Mary (Dye ?) (or Bowers ?) 4. Jacob Bradford, died September 6, 1861, aged 60 years, 2 months, and 29 days. Lived in Greene County, Penna. 5. David Bradford. 6. Mary Bradford, married Henry Pethel. 7. Margaret Bradford, married Solomon Bowers. 8. Barbara Bradford, married, April 3, 1827, John Lemley. 9. Henry Bradford, born 1805, died 1843; married Hannah Morris. 10. William Bradford, died February 13, 1825, aged 18 years. 4. John Bradford, living in Whiteley Township in 1790. 5. Thomas Bradford, removed to Bracken County, Kentucky, as shown by papers in the estate of Robert Bradford. His wife was Lydia ....... ......... _...... 6.
