Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Mannerva Bradford is a part of US Black heritage.

Mannerva was born about 1848, or perhaps earlier, based on her first child's birth date of 1864. She was a slave on the Walnut Hill Plantation in Leon County, Florida. Her enslaver was Thomas Anderson Bradford, founder of the planation. She may have been born on the plantation, as it came into existence in 1832 or so. Her name and family grouping, but not her date of birth, was recorded in the plantation journal by Thomas's daughter, Sallie Bradford. No husband was listed.[1]

Research Notes

She may be the same person as Manerva Bradford, but they are listed in different family groupings in Sallie Bradford's journal. More documentation is needed to determine if they are a match.
