Biography

Lucy Bradley was born about 1705, possibly in Charles City County, Virginia. She died after May 1749, when her husband's will was proved in Albemarle County, Virginia. Her brother, William Bradley, was named in her husband's will.

Research Notes

There is no basis for the estimated birth date other than inferring she was close in age to her husband and still within childbearing years. A younger birth date supports the theory that she was not the mother of Robert's elder children. Some researchers give 1749 - the year his will was recorded - as her death date.

William Bradley has been proposed as her brother mentioned in her husband Robert's will. This William Bradley owned land on the other side of the James River (now Appomattox County) from where Robert Christian owned land along the north bank of the River (now Amherst County).

Will of Robert Christian
Written: 25 March 1748
Probated: May Court 1749
Albermarle, Virginia
Wife Lucy Christian and unborn child.
Sons, John, Robert and Drury Christian to have tract of land where I now live.
Daughters, Elizabeth Christian and Lucy Christian to have £50 currency each.
Executors: wife and friend William Bradley ( bro. of wife).
Witnesses: Walter Leak, William Leak and Charles Christian [1]

It has also been suggested that Lucy was the second wife of Thomas Oglesby, Sr. and was the wife "Lucy" mentioned in his will. However, it's thought that they had no children together. If this is the same Lucy, then she lived at least until 1788 because she owned the 378 acres in Buckingham County left to her by Thomas Oglesby until that year. In 1789 it's noted that she sold the land to John Miller.[2]

Bradley-3565 and Bradley-1453 do not represent the same person because: Not enough info on one to even make a decent comparison

Bradley-3565 and Bradley-1453 do not represent the same person because: 9 years difference in Lucy's date of birth. 11 year difference in her Robert Christian Jr (her son) birth date. Places in Virginia are different as well. No sources on either profile.
