In hopes of clearing up confusion, wiki user Don Bradley has provided documents for Francis Bradley in the context of historical land records in Bute County, North Carolina. Here is what it says:
Francis Bradley is listed in the Bute County, North Carolina Oath of Allegiance administered in 1775. Other Bradleys, who are not known to be related to John Bradley 1707, are also listed, including William, James, Lewis, and Benjamin. Notably, Francis is listed in a different district from the others.
A land record from 24 May 1765 indicates that Nathaniel Carter, a planter, sold to Francis Bradley, also of Bute County, 481 acres in Bute County on the south side of Crooked Creek for 23 pounds of Virginia money. (this could be Francis Bradley Jr.'s Father)
Another record, dated 20 June 1766, documents a transaction where Francis Bradley, a planter, sold to Joseph Norris, also a planter from Bute County, 100 acres in Bute County for 20 pounds of proclamation money. This land is associated with a grant from Lord Carteret, Earl Granville, dated 1 August 1762, and the transaction was proved in Bute January Court 1766.
Additionally, he took the Oath of Allegiance in 1775, which would also suggest that he was a mature adult capable of making legal decisions, further supporting the idea that he was likely born no later than the mid-1700s.
