Biography

Smith Bradley was born on January 27, 1818[1] in Kentucky[2] to Thomas Bradley and Rachel Roberts.

In 1838, Smith married Barbara Crews. From this union were born eight known children:

Martha Ellen Bradley
Thomas Minter Bradley
Melissa J. Bradley
William Wright Bradley
Squire Bradley
Hampton Boone Bradley
Elizabeth Ann (Bradley) Lewis
John J. Bradley

According to the 1850 census, Smith lived with Barbary and their children, Martha, Thomas, Melissa, and William in Howard County, Missouri.[2]

He was a part of Clark's 9th Infantry Regiment for the Confederates. The regiment fought at Prairie Grove, Pleasant Hill, and Jenkin's Ferry [3][4]

Barbara died between 1860 and 1862.

On November 16, 1862, Smith married Francie Buckler in Boone County, Missouri.[5]From this union were born three known children:

Alfonso Hibert Bradley
Clabern Jackson Bradley
Lucy Beulah (Bradley) White.

Smith died on November 16, 1898. He is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Randolph County, Missouri.[1]

Thomas was the paternal great grandfather of Five Star General Omar Nelson Bradley.
