George Washington Bradley was born in Eastern New York in 1813. His brother Thomas, who was 9 years older, married Betsey Kroll in 1828. They had one child, Amanda born a year later. Thomas died in 1883. George then married his widow, Betsey in 1834. The Bradleys are an old New England Family. The first born in America was Nathanial. He was born in 1631 in Dorchester, Suffolk, Massachussetts. George and his family were probably living in Clarkson, Monroe Co., in Western New York in 1842 when they were converted to the Mormon faith. Their 4th child, Melinda was born there that year. Their 5th child, Jacob was born 1843 in Hancock Co., Illinois, probably near Nauvoo. Apparently they arrived in time to receive much of the persecution poured out upon the Mormons at that time. Their 6th child Levina was born in 1846 in Pottawattamie Co., Iowa probably near Winter Quarters. Their 7th child Hyrum was born at Winter Quarters, Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa. Their 8th child, Amos was born 1849 in Salt Lake City. Their 9th child, Zephaniah was born 1851 in Manti, San Pete, Utah. Their 10th child Sylvia was born 1855 in Nephi, Juab, Utah. George and his family last moved to Moroni in San Pete County. It appears George may have built as many new cabins, for his family, as he had children. He became the Bishop of the Moroni Ward and served in that position for many years. He is buried by his wife Betsy in the Moroni Cemetary.
