John was born at Smalldale, Bradwell, Derbyshire and baptised at Hope, Derbyshire on 12 September 1754.[1] He is the son of John Bradwell and Mary Fox.
John's first marriage was to Joan Middleton on 26 September 1775 at Hope. Both were residents of Smalldale, neither previously married. The witnesses were Thomas Fox and Nathan Woodroofe.[2]
Joan was buried on 3 June 1783 at Hope and John wasted no time marrying again, being married to Ellen Dickens on 8 July 1783 at Hope. Both were of Hope parish. The witnesses were Thomas Fox and Nathan Woodroofe again.[3]
His son John's obituary in 1853 states ".... landlord of the Bull's Head, where his parents lived before him....."
John died in Bradwell and was buried in Hope on 29 January 1798.[4]
