The couple settled in Washington, DC where Paul began his civil service career in the Defense Intelligence Agency, later the Dept. of Defense.
They lived in Italy and Germany for a few years during Paul's assignments abroad and they developed several lifelong friends and a lifelong passion for opera and other aspects of Italian culture.
After returning to the US, while raising their four children, Alice obtained her residential real estate license and began a life-long interest in real estate while working part-time with Lillian Harper & Associates in Georgetown.
