Capt Thomas Bragg
Son of Joseph Bragg and Susannah Dozier.
Served in the Revolutionary War as a Captain under Colonel Christopher Greenup. He commanded a Company of Virginia Militia.
Married Lucy Neville Blakemore on September 20, 1781 in Frederick County, Virginia. Came to Kentucky from Virginia with Col. Greenup following the Revolutionary War, both with large land grants and families. Thomas Bragg owned most of the land encompassing Vanceburg, Kentucky, on the Ohio River.
Lucy and Thomas Bragg's grandnephew Braxton Bragg, a graduate of West Point, became the famous Confederate General, and their grandnephew Thomas Bragg., Sr., Braxton's older brother, would become a North Carolina Governor and Senator, and the 2nd Confederate Attorney General.
He was a planter, operated salt wells and some early iron furnaces. He died in 1820 after arriving in Lexington to have a stone surgically removed.
