Biography

Richard Brayne or Brain was born at Over Norton, a village in the parish of Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, probably in 1795. He was baptised at Chipping Norton parish church on 24 May 1795, as the son of James and Ann Brayne. [1] [2]

Richard Brain, bachelor, of the parish of Tackley, and Ann Butler or Buttler, spinster, of the parish of Swerford, were married at the parish church of Swerford in Oxfordshire on 5 June 1820. The witnesses were called Andrew Sturt and William Whiter. [3]

In 1851, Richard was living at Swerford in Oxfordshire with his wife Ann and their children. His age was given as 55, implying a birth date in 1795 or 1796. His birthplace was given as Over Norton, Oxfordshire. He was an agricultural labourer. [2]

He passed away in 1878.[4]
