Biography

Richard Brain was born in 1846 at Stretton on Fosse, Warwickshire, England. He was the son of John Brain and Mary White.^[1]

In the 1851 census, Richard was age 4 living at Quary Hill, Polesworth, Warwickshire with his father John Brain (37), mother Mary Brain (34), sisters Sarah Brain (12), Ann Brain (7), brothers John Brain (11), George Brain (9), William Brain (2), Robert Brain (0).^[2]

In the 1861 census, Richard was age 15 living at Glascote, Staffordshire with his father John Brain (47), mother Mary Brain (45), sisters Ann Brain (18), Mary Brain (8), brothers George Brain (20), William Brain (12), Robert Brain (10).^[3]
