Biography
Mary Brain was born in about 1797 at Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire [1][2], the daughter of William Brain and his wife Sarah. She was baptised at Shipton under Wychwood on 10 January 1797. [1].
Thomas Whiting and Mary Brain, both of Ramsden, were married at Shipton under Wychwood on 9 October 1818 [3].
In 1841, Mary was living at Ramsden with her husband Thomas and daughter Rachel. Her age was given as 40, implying a birth date from 1796 to 1801. [4].
In 1851 Mary, a widow, was living at Ramsden with her daughter Rachel and son Joseph. Her age was given as 54, implying a birth date in 1796 or 1797. Her birthplace was given as Shipton, Oxfordshire (that is, Shipton under Wychwood). Her occupation was given as farmer's work [2].
