Mrs. Henry was born before 1848, based on the probated will of her enslaver, John Branch.
Mrs. Henry was one of the slaves of John Branch (1782-1863), who was a Governor of North Carolina from 1817 to 1820, and the Governor of Florida Territory from 1844 t0 1845. On 25 Feb 1863, Branch's estate was probated in Leon County, Florida.[1] Mrs. Henry was one of the slaves Branch's estate gave to his daughter, Margaret (Branch) Donelson (1811-1871), along with his Walnut Hill Plantation in Florida. Margaret received them on 10 Mar 1863. It is not yet determined if she was enslaved on Branch's Live Oak Plantation in Leon County, Florida, or on his Walnut Hill property. Mrs. Henry's age was not given in the will, but it is assumed she was at least 15 years old since she apparently was married. She may also have been enslaved during Branch's time in North Carolina.
