Baptized on April 22, 1768, James Brander, son of Thomas Brander and Christian Strachan of Cairnmore. Witnesses were James Strachan of Boghead and James Taylor of Cairnborrow.
On August 3, 1792, James Brander married Isobel Henderson at Glass Aberdeenshire.
His brother William's son, George, wrote to his brothers, John and James in Nova Scotia in 1842 that their "father had been up to Edinburgh to see Uncle James and the Queen (Victoria). He saw her four times". Another letter from his nephew, George, written August 18, 1843 stated, "We had a visit of Uncle James down from Edinburgh but he did not stop but 10 days. He is in very good health but his son George was very bad this summer but he is getting a good deal better now."[1]
James Brander died on January 24, 1854 at Broomieknowe Midlothian.[2]
