Cornelius and Mary were owners of a plantation in Cannon County, Tennessee where they lived out their lives and raised a large family. He died without a will and the record for Mary Brandon as Administrator was found in an unpaginated Minute Book of Chancery Court of Cannon Co., TN. Cornelius Brandon was a soldier in the War of 1812. The children of Cornelius and Mary Tennison Brandon are named in the estate record and census records and all were born in Rutherford Co., TN. Both Cornelius and Mary were buried in Simpson Cemetery, Cannon Co., TN.

According to researcher Stephen Brandon, Cornelius Brandon b.1783 Rowan Co. NC was brought to Rutherford Co. TN as a youth by George Brandon, Joseph Tennison and his wife, Sibella (Brandon) Tennison.

Oral tradition says he was an adopted nephew of this George Brandon.

Testing of a descendant of Cornelius verifies that line does not match these Brandons, however closely affiliated.(Cornelius m. 31 Jan 1805 Mary Phoebe Tennison.)
