Two notes from Christopher Ardell Brooks, Kansas City, Missouri, USA (BrooksKCMo@aol.com or brookskcmo@gmail.com), sent in 2016, September, to Theodor Bloem:

„The biography shows that Johannes Welmes (who is Johannes Wellms in WikiTree, on his WikiTree site see his biography, written by Johann van Lengen from Emden) parents and birthplace are unknown but I can show who his parents (parents of Johannes Welmes) are.
Sammlung Plöger:
1647, October 22 (Birth Certificate, No. 60, Stadtarchiv Lemgo) – certificate for Joh. “Trophagen"
(who is Johannes Wellms in WikiTree), druggist in Aurich, parents: the deceased Johann Welmers and Anna Trophagen. Witnesses: Henrich Godecke, Henrich Kemper and Hermann Voß.
[This entry is taken from the Sammlung Plöger in the Stadtarchiv and not the original record which shows the surname to be Welmers and not Trophagen which was his mothers name.] I do not know his date of birth as church records in Lemgo to not begin that early but I assume he was born about 1620 at Lemgo.
Johann Welmers was a Kupferschmied from Itzehoe, Holstein, and Anna Trophagen was the daughter of Tonnies Trophagen and Anna Brandt. The Traphagen or Trophagen family was an old Patrician family at Lemgo.“

„I found Anna's ( the wife of Johann Welmers) father in a WikiTree at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Traphagen-48 . His name was Tonnies Traphagen and his wife (not listed in the tree) was Anna Brandt, daughter of Herman Brandt of Lemgo (after receiving this E-Mail from Chris Brooks, Theodor Bloem listed Anna Brandt into WikiTree). Anna Traphagen was born about 1585 and married first at Lemgo to Eggert Ruschenberg and then about 1617 to Jan Willemse or Jan Welmers from Itzehoe. I believe the surname Welmers may originate from the 'nickname' for Wilhelm which is Wilmen. When Jan Willemse from Itzehoe became a Burger Lemgo his name was written Jan Willemse and not Jan Wilmers.“
