Thomas Brannan was born 1723 in Virginia. He was christened 10 April 1723 at North Farnham Parish, Richmond, Virginia. He married Katherine Croucher in 1741. He died in 1804.

To all people to whom these present shall come know ye that I, Thomas Brannan of Johnston County State of North Carolina, have for and in consideration of the love, goodwill, and affection I have for my beloved son, Leroy Brannan of said county and state, do give and devise to him the said Leroy Brannan and his heirs forever the land and plantation whereon I now live with all the houses, improvements, and belonging to the same also one hundred acres of land lying on the waters of Betsy branch. I also give to my said son Leroy Brannan all the casks that belong to my plantation, also one large stone pitcher, one cart and wheels, and one __ [sythe?] and cradle. Also all my carpenters, coopers, and shoemakers tools.
And also I give to my two granddaughters Elizabeth Brannan and Catharine Brannan, daughters of my son Leroy Brannan, five pounds to be divided between my said granddaughters Elizabeth and Catharine Brannan.
And also I give to my said son Leroy Brannan one case and bottles, also one __[slate?].
Also I give to my two sons William and Caron Brannan all my wearing apparel to be equally devided between the two after being decently buried.
And all the ballance of my personal property I leave to be sold and my just debts collected and paid.
I constitute and appoint my two sons Leroy and William Brannon my executors, and after that all the money remaining collected and be equally devided between my six children leaving [living] now: Anne Youngblood, Thomas Brannon Jr., Caron Brannon, William Brannon, Tabitha Duck and Leroy Brannan.
First reserving the use of my personal and seal estate for and during the term of my natural life. In witness I the said Thomas Brannon have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 30th day of August A.D. 1802.
