John Brannon was born in Ireland 1745. He received a land grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia on June 26, 1789 for 552 acres near Back Creek. He lived in Winchester and Frederick counties and fathered twelve children.[1]
He passed away in 1804 in Berkeley, Virginia and is buried at Brannon Cemetery in Glengary, Berkeley County, West Virginia. Brannon Cemetery is located on private land he once owned near Back Creek in Old Frederick County.[2]
