Biography

I was born in Detroit in 1964. I was adopted as an infant into a very loving and large African-American family. My adoptive family has deep roots in Ontario Canada and Mississippi. I learned at a fairly young age that I was adopted but I assumed that I'd never know much about my biological heritage. I spent years documenting and publishing my adoptive family genealogy, but the advent of DNA testing gave me the idea that there might be a chance for me to find my genetic origins and relations.

Fast forward to 2015 and an autosomal test with Ancestry revealed a 1st cousin, a 2nd cousin, and over a hundred 3rds and 4ths. I now have a complete 4-generation genetic tree with some branches going back much further. The stranger than fiction true story of my search and the incredible highs and lows are captured in my 2020 publication, Spitting Image: A Foundling's Memoir of Faith and Gratitude available online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and bookstores worldwide. If you don't see it on the shelves, ask for it by name and they'll be able to get it for you in their next shipment.

Common DNA matches have allowed me to triangulate the relationships of slave owners and the slaves with whom they fathered children. Brantley, Hagan, Beasley, and Wright are some of the European slave owners whose descendantsI both free and slave[1], I have confirmed matches.

Maternal | Haplogroup: J2a1a1b | Kapilla, Uhelák, Čurosová, Kovach (Czech, Slovak) | Stoll, Schmidt, Preuss, Behrendt/Bergrundt (German)

Paternal | Haplogroup: E-U290 | Lowther, Brantley ( Brantley Association), Harvard, Wright, Hagan ( Hagan Genealogy), Beasley, Knight, Moody (Cameroonian, Congolese, Brittish, Irish)

Hi,

I am reaching out to you on behalf of the US Black Heritage Project. It seems you have added this project as a category on your profile. This is a top level category and should not be added to person profiles. Would you please be so kind as to remove this category from you profile. If you are African American, please add {{African-American Sticker} to your profile instead.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to send me a private message. I will be happy to assist you! Regards, Denise, US Black Heritage Project Leader

Hi,

I sent you a message a while ago on behalf of the Germany Project and have yet to hear back from you. I hope you are well.

If I don’t hear from you in the next week or so I’ll assume you no longer wish to be in the project and go ahead and remove you. You would, of course, be most welcome to rejoin at any time via the G2G sign-up post.

Best wishes,

Kylie :-)

Hi,

On behalf of the Germany Project, I am currently undergoing our member check-in's and wanted to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? We have many new teams so have a look on the Germany project page for the full list. I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google groups for project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup, please submit a join request and we will get that approved as quickly as possible. We also ask that you check your follwed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (GERMANY) so you don't miss any disucssions in G2G.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions please ask. I would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project!

Please respond by private message. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Ron,

It has been a couple of weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Southern Colonies Project. As we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.

We understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to their ancestors. If this is the case for you, please let us know.

If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.

Thank you so much for your participation; we genuinely appreciate it.

Hi again ~ And this one for your own profile, see

Please remove the category Slavic Roots Project off your profile. Thanks (-:

Ron, Hi - you have the wrong category for your Slavic Roots and German Roots. What you want to put is simply Category:Slavic_Roots (framed by brackets) and also Category:German_Roots. Or even better, the German Roots sticker (-:

Hey Ron.......Really enjoyed your biography .

We share somewhat of a historical perspective..in that I am a ..."ship without a harbor so to speak"... searching for docking privileges on the tree of life.

Ron, do you speak any Czech or other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add

{{ Languages | en | cs-3 }}

to the top of your biography if you speak English natively and advanced Czech, or you could use fr-4 to specify near-native French or ru-1 for basic Russian, etc. It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree!

Karen

p.s. I need to add the Czech categories and user templates this morning, so feel free to add the template even though it will look broken until I add the categories. And let me know if another language is missing!
