Zadock Brashears was born to Jesse and Elizabeth Prather Brashears. He was a Revolutionary War soldier from Maryland. He was a farmer and owned 960 acres in Black Bluff, MS. In 1778 he married Susannah Vaughn in Jones Bluff, Sumter Co. Alabama. They had ten children. Maria Brashears, Jesse Brashears, Ann Lyle Brashears(married her first cousin), Susan Stewart, Delilah "Lila" Trahern, Elizabeth Buckholtz, Vaughn Brashears, Sophia Moncrief, Zadock Brashears Jr., and Turner Brashears. His second wife was Rachel Durant. They were married Sept. 6, 1824.
