SYNOPSIS: Born in 1950, the 6th child of ten (5 girls-5 boys) catholic background and a French and Scotish heritage, parents were strick in raising us. Father (Gerrard) was a carpenter by trade when grandfather Olivier died in 1929, dad became the so called man of the house ( a roll he did not cherish) but did his best to guide the family through the Great Depression when work was scares he helped out by trapping. Mom was a home gal looking after the kids, and later in life she was a hospital aid worker. As for me growing up was rough and interesting and fun galor in a small town. Season permitting we played sports, hunted, fished, picked wild berries for Mom, had a big backyard garden. We heated with wood and coal when I was young, then switch to oil and electrical services. I was always off some place as a kid, sometimes Mom sent out the posse to fetch me home. As a kid I nearly drowned three times, as a youth-teen-young adult I been in a few car accidents, one nearly taking my youthful life. If you are wondering how bad that one was that nearly took my life (I was run over by a 62 Valiant...low to the ground). Schooling was so, so and boring. I just got through it. I did ok in college. Working life was from a teen to just a few years ago, worked at my trade, then got into landscaping and design. Somewhere in those years I got married, for 25 years, (no kids)....always paid my way in life, owning to no one. I have, and had, many interest and hobbies: hunting and fishing, woodworking and sign making, genealogy, cartooning and a few others. end1
Genealogy is a very interesting subject of living to pursue, and I been at it since the early 1980's. I like history, and I like finding about things in my family tree that no one knew about. One day early into my research a school teacher searching her branch came across some cool stuff regarding the first of our ancestors to New France (Quebec). It is noted that he sort of gave Wolf (the British leader in the invasion of Quebec) his first defeat in New France by not guiding Wolf 's invasion forces down the river through rough water to Quebec city.
When I or other family members ask about our family history he seem to avoid it afraid something unwelcoming would surface. I haven't found anything that would make me uncomfortable. I know the Brasseur family were large on average, many were rural dwellers (farmers) like a large portion of the population through the ages, and some became very successful at that choice of life. Others worked in sales and trades, some became lawyers, doctors, teachers, nuns, priest, Canada's first fighter jet pilot, and even a world class skating olympian. There is so much more to learn about my branch and the other branches on the family tree. end2

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a tour for new members How to - Click Here really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around
I would recommend adding tags like your surname, your mother and grandmother's maiden surname's and the country of your family origins. Clicking your green tags shows who is following the tag. Adding surname tags improves links to the community, research options and projects. If a tag only comes back to you the tag will need amending to link into the community. To add Tags: My Tags
