Research notes

The signature on the Last Will and Testament has the middle inital C. Please see the facimile of the original attached to the profile. The suffix Jr or ll is not part of his name as such. It is something we have done to distinguish him from his father. In light of the Will, I have simply removed the B that was set as the middle initial and left it blank. It is however a C

Contention for further research: See image 3, a snip of the will of William Braswell Jr (III) with his father, William Braswell Sr's (II) signature as a witness. Compare with the William "C" Braswell signature and you will see that there is no "C". He made a partial cursive L and then in another stroke of pen completed the B. - Ann Braswell

What you are viewing is not a letter but a mark as in 'his mark'.

Biography

William Braswell JR is married to Margaret (LNU). William Braswell Jr's Father William Braswell SR is married to Mary (LNU, Wilson is possible not proven) and William Braswell SR is D'cd by 1721 where Mary his widow remarried to Moses Ginn. The document below is William Braswell JR

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:

Hi Erinne Kennedy-Dock, Would you kindly take a look at my 6th great grandfather William Braswell who was married to Margaret. You claim he has a middle initial C. I posted another record with his signature with explanations. Please examine my work and correct the profile.

Thanks, Ann Braswell

WM BRASWELL II COULD NOT BE BORN 1707, LOOK AT THIS DEED:

1718 - June 7, John Smith of Chowan Prect. and Judith his wife, to Philip Brown (residence not given), 40 pounds, 640 acres on Chinkapin Creek, joining John Smith, flatt swamp and the creek. Wit: William Brasswell, Margaret Brasswell (M, her mark). Reg 25 Aug 1719. (Chowan Co., NC Deed Book B #1 pg. 709)

PLUS, he legally obtained land from North Carolina, a grant, in 1714 and he had to be age 21. I found the land records which prove his age. (Wm is my direct line)

NC to WM Braswell: 1 Apr 1714 • Chowan County, North Carolina 600 acres S. side of Youaha a branch of Meherrin Creek Grant # 919 (HE HAD TO BE 21)

25 May 1734 • Bertie County, North Carolina (1734 WM I was dead) WM Braswell To John Boyd 300 acres for 30 pounds SS Yawraha Swamp at mouth of Great Branch ADJACENT ROBERT BRASSWELL..Part of tract of 600 acres GRANTED {{{SAID}}} WILLIAM BRASSWELL on April 1, 1714 (D-150 IM 547) (This Robert Braswell was his uncle)

I tried to edit his info but was NOT ALLOWED. Can someone fix it????

William Braswell II (AKA JR) does not have a middle name or initial in any of his records. His mother's name is Mary, but her surname is not on any record. It is purely speculation and I have not seen any records to base this speculation on.

Braswell-1010 and Bracewell-353 appear to represent the same person because: These two Bracewell and Braswell have all the same info except their last name needs to be decided on.

There are several children on this profile that were born after the death of this person and at a point that he was older than normal for bearing children.

Braswell-803 and Bracewell-353 appear to represent the same person because: similar birth, wife, same death
