Biography

Mrs Rachel Goff (Bratcher)

Burial: Goff Cemetery, Hilltop (Grayson County), Grayson County, Kentucky, USA

Rachel was born in 1836. She was the daughter of William Bratcher and Mary McKinney[1] and she is listed in their household with eight siblings on the 1850 Census. [2] She married James "Calvin" Goff on July 29, 1852 in Grayson, Kentucky. [3] The couple is listed together on the 1860 Census with four children (Robert, Issac, Mary, and Hester). [4] After the death of her husband in 1874 it is believed that she may have been remarried to Aaron V. Day and she is listed in his household as Rachel Day on the 1880 Census in the same area of Grayson, Kentucky. [5] However, the 1900 Census lists her as Rachel Goff and she is again listed as widowed. [6] She passed away in January of 1913 in Hilltop, Grayson County, Kentucky.[7]
