Biography

Carl was born in Germany and was a German sea captain.

He immigrated to the United States of America in 1881.

On March 24, 1883 he married Helene Hentschel in Boerne, Kendall County, Texas, USA.

The text on their marriage license is as follows:

The State of Texas, County of Kendall. To all who shall see these presents:

Greeting, Know ye that any person legally authorized to celebrate the rites of Matrimony is hereby licensed to join in marriage as husband and wife, Carl F.H. Brauer and Helene M.E. Hentschel and for so doing this shall be his sufficient authority. Given under my hand and seal of the office at Boerne, this 23rd day of April 1883.

The Immigration Database supplied by the Galveston Historical Foundation cites his arrival to Galveston, Galveston County, Texas, USA as 28 Sep 1883 indicating his arrival aboard the ship named Weser accompanied by Helene M. Elisabeth "Ella" Brauer and indicates his Prussia as his origin of birth.

The 1900 US Census showed that he was Railroad Laborer in Rockport, Aransas County, Texas, USA.

The 1910 US Census showed that he was Railroad Foreman in Liberty County, Texas, USA. Though living in the United States, he had not become a U.S. citizen by that time.

He passed away on 9 August 1922 in Hardin, Liberty County, Texas, USA, and was laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Liberty County, Texas, USA.
