Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Thurs. Sept. 28, 1967, p. 38:1. World War I Veteran Dies at Age of 79. Martin Peter Braun, 79, of 351 Third St., retired Eden farmer, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Hospital. Mr. Braun was a veteran of World War I. He had farmed in the Eden area until retirement in 1944, when he moved to his present address. He was a member of the American Legion, Catholic Order of Foresters Court 814, St. Joseph's Church, Holy Name Society and Third Order of St. Francis. He was born May 19, 1888, in the Town of Eden, the son of Peter and Julia Herbert Braun. He married Gertrude Mary Meade on Nov. 29, 1922, and she survives. Other survivors include one son, John P. Braun, West Bend; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Carr of Eden and Mrs. Thomas Meade of Campbellsport; and two brothers, Edward, Eden, and Nicholas, city. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry G. Riordan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Eden.

Braun, who died Wednesday, were held at 9:30 a.m. today at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. Rev. David Braun was celebrant, Rev. Robert Braun was seated in the sanctuary. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden. Pallbearers were Leo Cosgrove, Raymond Ziegelbauer, Paul Braun, Lester Herbert, John Costello and Thomas Meade Jr. The Trier-Puddy Post 75 American Legion firing squad conducted military services. Color bearers were Floyd Jones and Joseph Karst. Color guards were Frank Osgood and Joseph Karst. Color guards were Frank Osgood and Don Kinney and the firing detail included Andrew Johnson, Leo Marcoe, John Pitas, Henry Rucks, Victor Broome and T. E. Sullivan. The bugler was Robert Samuel and commander was Thomas Corcoran.
