KATARINA (Catherine) MARIE BRAUN 1747-1830
Katarina Marie BRAUN was born 31 December 1747 in East Hanover, Lebanon Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Daughter of Johann John "Michael" Braun (1724–1785) and Anna Juliana Karger Braun 1728–1785. Christoph Meyer and wife (no name given) were Katarina Marie Braun's baptismal sponsors according to the Parish Register at the Hill Evangelical Church where Katarina Marie is recorded but without a baptism date.

Additional bio added from merge of Braun-33039 on the 18th of July 2017: Jacob Bickel, was born June 16, 1744 in Massenbach, Germany. He came to America on the Jacob in 1749 with his parents. He married Catharine Brown in 1766 at Hill Lutheran Church near Annville, PA. Catharine was born Dec. 31, 1747 at Brickerville, PA. The baptismal record is in Emmanual Lutheran Church in Brickerville. The Browns moved to East Hanover Township about 1750. The minister, Casper Stoever, took his personal records with him and re-recorded the baptism in the Hill Church.

Jacob and Catharine Bickel lived on a farm in Upper Paxton Township in Dauphin County until about 1790 when they moved to Botetourt County, Virginia. They moved to Wythe County where much of the rest of the Brown family then lived, in 1797.

I only recently gathered this information but have verified it by finding primary sources. My primary focus now is to find Michael Brown's German origin. I think he was brought to America by his mother, Maria Katarina Braun. Her name is found a few times on the Emmanual Lutheran Church records in Brickerville as a baptismal sponsor. It was common to name the oldest daughter after the maternal grandmother, and this is the same name as Michael's oldest daughter. According to a biographical sketch done around 1880 in the Bickel family it was stated that the family came from near Worms, Germany and on the banks of the Rhine. We had always assumed that it was the Bickels that came from there, but we have recently discovered that the Bickels came from Massenbach, which is maybe about 40 miles from Worms, so it must have been the Browns.

Catherine's birth date according to the Hill Parish Records was 31 Dec 1747 but her Tombstone shows the date as 25 Sep 1747.
