Biography
Lewis was born in 1827. He was the son of William Bray and Susanna Fitzgerald.
He married Prudence Patton on 31 Aug 1848. Their children:
- Susan Margaret Bray, (1849–1935)
- William R. Bray, (1850–1878)
- Richard Bray, (1852–1933)
- Fidelia Jane Bray, (1855–1943)
- John Jonas Bray, (1856–Deceased)
- James Edward Bray, (1858–1915)
- Mary Catherine Bray, (1860–1939)
- Nancy Elizabeth Bray, (1862–1950)
The 1850 Census[1] shows him at age 23 with his wife, a daughter, and two older sisters in Franklin County, Missouri.
The 1860 Census[2] shows him at age 35 with his wife and six children in Boueff Township, Franklin County, Missouri.
He passed away in 1862. This note from FindAGrave:
- "Service in the Civil War was as a Private in the 24th Regiment, Company A, H, Missouri Infantry. Died 7 Mar 1862 in the Regimental Hospital of a "Vul Sclopet" [gunshot wound]."[3]
