Nicholas Bray was born in about 1786 and was baptized on 30 July 1786 at Grade, Cornwall, England[1]. He was the son of Thomas Bray and Margery Mitchell.
Nicholas Bray married Ann Rogers on October 23, 1810 in Ruan Major, Cornwall, after Banns[2]. William Rogers and John Harris were the witnesses
[3].
They had about nine children. From 1812 through to 1831, baptisms of the children of Nicholas and Ann Bray were recorded in Ruan Major, Cornwall for the following: Ann, William, John, Henry, Nicholas, James, Avis (died young), Alice (died young) and Samuel[4]. For child Henry Bray, Nicholas Bray is named as his father on his marriage record to Alice Tripcony in 1842.[5].
1841 UK Census: In the 1841 England Census, Nicholas Bray was residing in Ruan Major, Cornwall with his wife and youngest son Samuel.[6] Peddenvounder, Ruan Major, Helston, Cornwall, England:
