-i'm 29 years old and have been doing geneaology since i was 17. although i tend to focus on doing trees of those related to me, i'm willing to help others when possible especially now since i've hit brick walls on all the branches of my pedrigree tree.
i'll add more later
i'm not sure what to put for spanish/espanol ability part since i have an easier time reading and writing it than speaking it
focus areas of research: jerez, colotlan, huejucar, monte escobedo, mezquitic, santa maria de los angeles, tepetongo
also i'm slowly now working on my dad's side of the family tree at least on his german and swedish branches. I might expand the bohemian/czech, pomeranian etc. later

I am also a member of the Germany and Latin America Projects.
My main area of interest is Prussia. Some of my family emigrated from regions that are now in Poland.
I have just read your comment about Spanish. There is a lot more reading and writing than speaking in Wikitree. I would guess your skill level is fairly high.
I support Jelena's comment. If you have any questions, please ask.
Not sure where to ask but how does one use the vallalodid dispensas. I get there just fine but then when I go to the Michoacan Morelia marriage info records I am not finding the corresponding film number and date. Do I need to sign in to vallalodid to get it to work. There aren't any directions any where. Thank you very much.
do you have a familsearch account? also you first type in name and surname of person you are looking for on this website: https://www.valladoliddispensas.com/
-once you find an entry you want to look at, find out what post it's under,
-then click on source film link on the post. if link doesn't work, then you'll have to search up microfilm number manually on familysearch
- afterwards, once a linked page from said microfilm shows up, type the page number showing next to the entry you want to look up in the image __ out of -insert total number of pages/images of microfilm/collection-
if this is still confusing, i'll see about sending screenshots or a video screen capture.
Thank you Katy. I don't have a problem getting to the valladoliddispensas site or finding a name I am looking for. The link to the source film has never worked (helped on some previous ones) and we, several of us, do access via familysearch to the appropriate Michoacan files. Some of the Film Numbers and dates do correspond and we can find those. But there are many, many that do not show a corresponding film number (some are very large files and it seems when I looked before three of the films were within one and you couldn't tell by the date or film number. We spent a very long time figuring out where they were.
So I do not need to be signed in to use and get the link to work? Is there a reason why the link doesn't work? I will try it again, but I have tried several times already.
ok from what it sounds like, the valladolid dispensas has a similar issue as guadalajara dispensas in how a link may link directly to microfilm only and other times link to the larger collection the microfilm and if microfilm isn't the first one in it's collection/subgroup- the page counts/numbers are off. that's why some of my guadalajara dispensas indexed have two different numbers listed, to help combat that. most people who volunteer for the dispensas only include the first page # that shows up when they index said microfilm.
if you can give me a particular valladolid index post and a marriage you are having a hard time finding using the page number listed, i could try to find an alternate page number where the record could be at.
Don't have any trouble with the Guadalajara Dispensations. Press the link and it works. Still not working at the Valladolid Dispensations. Here is an example of one 1723 FHL Source Film 768536
246 Nicolas de Ornelas & Felipa Perez y Valero / Cocupao (*Novia es originaria de Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco). Manually since the link doesn't work, 1723 open and it has film 768535 which is close to 768536 and is probably embedded in this one. So looked at film 768535 which has 574 entries and added 257 to get to 831, spent some time rooting around and finally found it at Image 821. We did that last time for some other dispensations but it took forever to figure out, so we finally made our own index for a few films.
The one I am really interested in is 1793 Film 768826 Image 303. Can't find it. When I press the link at Michoacan fs site, it doesn't open at all. So it must be somewhere else but don't have a clue where.
But there are many I am interested in and can't access. So how do I find them w/o having to ask you to find them for me.
Thank you for the work you have done on these and thank you for taking the time to show how to access manually and find the corresponding film.
We are teaching students how to work with dispensations and will stick with the Guadalajara Dispensations for the time being but Guanajuato is our major source of work and would like to be able to access.
ok i clicked on link for the post for 768826, and it linked to page 4268 of Información matrimonial y actas diversas 1793. assuming 4268 is the equivalent of page 1 in the index, i skipped 302 pages foward and found the marriage you were looking for https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-BGS7-KS?i=4569&wc=3NTL-2NL%3A178285301%2C178658501%2C217717601%3Fcc%3D1883388&cc=1883388&cat=394235. so yeah valladolid dispensas is having a similar issue as guadalajara dispensas. page 303 on Film 768826 index equals page 4570 of Información matrimonial y actas diversas 1793. When using that method, if you skip exact page distance and get a body page instead of cover/first page, you might have to go back or foward a page or two to find the first page. that was the trick i used when they started making links inconsistent on whether they'd link to a individual microfilm or a batch of microfilms. As long as family search didn't add a whole bunch of pages to any collection, then that method will be effective over 90% of the time.
I'll see about possibly bringing this up to valladolid dispensas as well. not sure how long it will take since i have a lot of things going on. but i'm not sure if the indexes will get fixed to reflect both page numbers. Heck, i haven't been able to even edit all my older guadalajara dispensas indexes with the outdated page counts.
Thank you Katy. I couldn't access MI y actas..1793 at all when at Michoacan records. It would bring me right back to fs Record Type and Years so delighted to have the link you provided to get to these records. So far random checks indicate that this is the only one that couldn't be accessed at all. We will try finding by date and then see if we can figure out by film number where to find. Since links have not worked for quite some time, anything you can do to make it more accessible would be very much appreciated. Are there others having difficulty accessing by the links and maybe this is more unique to our location or some other glitch? Thank you.
During the winter, the Nordic Project performed check-ins, sent as a private message from your profile. You are one of those members who has not replied, and this is a last chance to get in touch and let me know if you like to continue as a member of the Sweden sub-project within the Nordic Project.
Please answer this comment, and get in touch by sending me a private message. If we have not heard from you within a month you will be removed from the Nordic google group and your badge will be removed.
If you have not received any check-in emails, you might want to check that your email adress for WikiTree is one you actually still use.
Hello again! I posted a comment two weeks ago and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well! Do you want to remain in the Germany Project? If I don’t hear back from you by the end of November, I’ll go ahead and remove you from our member roster. You are, of course, always welcome to rejoin at any time via our G2G sign-up post.
The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.
Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.
I sent you a message a couple of weeks ago on behalf of the Germany Project and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well!

sorry for late response. life really got in the way. i'm not sure how much i can contribute to that project especially since i've hit brick walls on my german branches that i may never be able to break
Thanks for responding Katy. The only participation requirement for the Germany Project is answering at check-in time - which you just did. If you're interested in the project, you're absolutely welcome to stay. When you have a chance, please let me know if you'd like to keep your project member badge.

Hi Katy. You have created a huge number of profiles without any birthplace, not even a guess.
Could you please, at the very least, put the country in the birthplace field? And in most cases I saw, you should be able to guess the state and city.
It creates a lot of work for other people, when we need to look through the biography or check sources, or close relatives, if we're looking for matches. It affects others when we create profiles of our own, and don't want to make duplicates, and it affects others when we're trying to connect branches, and it affects people who are trying to use WikiTree as a research resource.
Not using locations makes work for other people, and make WikiTree less useful for everyone.
Are you still interested in helping out and work on Swedish profiles on WikiTree? Please let me know as we are forming a new Nordic Project and if you are still interested you will get a new badge.
Me puedes decir cuales? Me he unido muchos perfiles ultimamente, para eliminar duplicados. Si cometi errores, por favor hagamelo saber. Puedo hacer cambios(en los apellidos) a los perfiles porque yo los manejo.
Nota: desculpe, el espanol no es mi primer idioma.
Thanks for working on the Elberts. I have to admit that I went through them and a few other families adding ones that intermarried because I found it interesting. They are only very distantly related to me, but I have been filling in down trees and then back up spouse trees to see if the connected at each branch to the global family tree.
Elbert, Naumann, Fahey, Nehring, Rohmann, Alig and a few others all lived in Woodford County and to some degree or another intermarried. Seldom with close cousins, more often siblings marrying siblings.
