Biography

Richard Edwards Breed, b. 6 May 1837 @ Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the third child of Rhoda Ogden (Edwards) Breed (1805-1867) & George Breed (1799-1863) ^[1].

He married 19 Nov. 1861 in Kenton, Kentucky, Martha O. "Mattie" Lyon ^[2] (1837 - 1917). They resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Chicago, Illinois. They had 6 children, their first and last of whom died young ^[3]:

3. Richard Edwards Breed (1866-1926); married 1) Cora E. Mark; 2) Julia D. Porter

6. Henderson Breed (18 Apr 1874 - 19 May 1875)

This family was charted in census records of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1870 ^[4]. At the 1900 U.S. census they were enumerated in Grant County, Indiana, where they remained for at least 20 years ^[5],^[6],^[7].

Richard Edwards Breed died 20 May 1923. His grave is in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA ^[8]. [Note that this online site is garbled with respect to his middle name, which clearly is inscribed on the grave marker.]
