Biography

John Breade "of Flittwicke and Westoninge" [1] was born c. 1559, probably at Flitwick or Westoning, Bedfordshire, England. Birth date is an estimate, based on other known historical dates. Westoning parish register only begins in 1560. He was the son of John Breade and Clemens (Unknown). [citation needed] He had three sisters: Agnes, Susan and Elizabeth Breed (no evidence, source is the highly unreliable The Millennium File). [citation needed]

Marriage

John married to Agnes Pratchett (or Prechat) on 14 Oct 1585 at Westoning, Bedfordshire. [2][3]. [4] Agnes was a daughter of Ralph Pratchett.

Death and Legacy

The will of "John Breade of the Easte end in the parish of Flittwick, county Beds, yeoman," was written on 18 May 1616 and was proved on 25 May 1616: [1]
to his wife, Agnes, all his goods in Westoninge; his estate in Flitwick to be equally divided among his children; "Alline" (Allen), his son, 2 bedsteads; each daughter, 5 pounds already given to them, "bequeathed by their late Uncle William Pratchett of Flittwick; to son John Breade of Westoning, all freehold lands in both Westoninge and Flittwick; to daughter Agnes 10 pounds.[4]
and
To William Prattchatt, son of Ralff Pratchatt of Easte end, one lamb. Executor: John Bread my son. Overseers: Thomas Crispsey of Flitwick and Edmonde Crowche of Westoninge. Witnesses: William Whittbreade, Theophilus Barrowe, Henry Bell, John Cockyn. Arch. Beds. liber 28, folios 72-4. [1]

John died probably on 18 May 1616, the date of his will, at Westoning, Bedfordshire, England [2] and he requested his burial there (p 148). [1]

He was buried at Westoning, Bedfordshire, on 19 May 1616. [5]

Children

Children of John and Agnes (from John's will, Westoning Parish Register 1560-1595, and the transcripts of the Archdeaconry of Bedford, commonly known as the Bishop's Transcripts which begin in 1602, so 1596-1601 baptisms are missing. [4][1] ba

Pattie, please make the necessary changes to the narrative including adding the sources. Thanks for finding them and for bringing the name issues to our attention. I will change the LNAB to match contemporaneous records. -- Jillaine, co-leader, PGM project
