Biography

Capt Thomas Breed served for Connecticut in the War of 1812
Service started: 1812

Thomas was a Master Mariner

Thomas Stanton Breed was born 20 May 1801 at Stonington, Connecticut. He was the sixth and final child of Prentice Breed and Mary Stanton. [1]

Thomas served in the War of 1812 with the 30th Reg't (Randall's), Connecticut Militia from 1812-1815. [2]

He married Rebecca Potter on May 20th, 1821. They had one daughter who died young, Frances M., born on June 3rd, 1824, died on October 8th, 1827. [1]

Thomas Stanton Breed died after August 15th, 1826 when he wrote his will.

His will is transcribed below: [3]

I Thomas S. Breed of Stonington, State of Connecticut, at present, Commander of the Brig. Bunker Hill of New York being in sound state of mind; do, by this my Last Will and Testament, give and bequeath unto my wife Rebecca Breed and her & my daughter, Frances Breed, all of my estate and effects, whether real, personal, or mixed, of every description, or wherever found; It's my wish that my wife the said Rebecca, have the charge of my daughter Frances, until of age, in law, keeping and protecting her part of my said property, to be proportioned, as, the law may require in said Connecticut, their present residence; It's, also, to be understood, that I wish and now ordain, that my just & lawful debts be discharged, as soon as, warranteable after my decease.

Done at sea, on board the Brig. Bunker Hill, near the island of St. Domingo; August the fifteenth in the year of our Lord, Eighteen hundred and twenty six.
