Richard (Breeding) Breeden Sr. was a North Carolina colonist.
Richard Cross Breeden was the son of Andrew Breeden. When Richard was born in 1710 in Virginia, his father, Andrew, was 46.
He married Eleanor Cross in 1731 in his hometown. They had eight children during their marriage.
He is on the Historical Register of Virginians in the Revolution.
He died in 1773 in Culpeper, Virginia, at the age of 63.[1]

Richard's parents are unknown,[3] but his father may have been Bryant Breeding of James City County, VA.[2]

Marriage

He married Eleanor Cross 1731 in Culpepper County, VA. She was born 1701 in Christ Church Parish, Middelsex County, VA. Following their marriage he went by the name Cross. They had seven children: Ossaman, Job Richard, Anne, Abner, Elijah, Drusilla, and Richard.[2]

A man named Richard Breeding served as a private in the Revolutionary War. This was likely their youngest son. Eleanor died in 1753 and Cross died 15 Mar 1773 at age 75 in Culpepper County, VA.[2]

Death

He died in 1773, in Culpeper County, Virginia.[4]

This Indenture made the Twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Three Between Richard Breeding of the Parish of Brumfield and County of Culpeper of one part and his children (to wit) Job, Ossaman, Ann, Abner, Elijah, Drucilla, Richard Breeding of the other part Witnesseth that as said Richard Breeding for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he hath and bears towards his aforesaid children hath given and grants and by these presents doth give and grant unto his said children Job, Ossaman, Ann, Abner, Elijah, Drucilla and Richard Breeding Eight head of cattle, nine head of sheep, twenty-one head of hogs and their increases, two beds and furniture, one house and all the rest of his movable estate to them and their heirs forever to be equally divided among them when they arrive to lawful age. In witness whereof the said Richard Breeding hath hereunto put his hand and affixed his seal the day, month and year first above written-[5]-----

Research

His Father might have been Bryant Breeding of James City County, VA. Or Andrew Breeding 1664–1778. Andrew born in Scotland, arrived in Maryland 1684, with grandfather as Thomas Breeding. I think Elizabeth Breeden is his mom then Sarah Ann Conway is her mom then Col. Joseph Ball of Epping Forest her father then Mary Washington is his daughter then Mary is the mother of George Washington'
