Irvin Eldridge Breedlove was born in Warren County, North Carolina around 1832.[1] Sometime before 1850, he moved to Tennessee and lived in Morgan County. He worked as a laborer. In Tennessee, he married his first wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Snow in Morgan County, Tennessee around 1853.[2] After his marriage, he lived in Pleasant Hill, Newton County, Arkansas. He farmed to earn a living.[3]
During the war, his wife, Elizabeth, died, and he married Dina Phillips in Newton County around 1864.[4] After his marriage, he enlisted in the Union Army on May 14, 1864 in Bellefonte, Arkansas. He was assigned to the 2nd Arkansas Cavalry, Company I.[1][5]Garrisoned in Little Rock, Arkansas, the unit escorted a supply train to Fort Smith, Arkansas. His company I served in the Clarsville area. He mustered out of the service on August 8, 1865.[6]
After the war, he returned home to Newton County and returned to a life of farming.[7]
Irvin died on March 4, 1900 in Thayer, Oregon County, Missouri. He was buried at Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Oregon County, Missouri.[8]
