George Alexander Fraser Bremner was born in August 1892 at Inverness-shire, Scotland. [1]
He migrated to Queensland, Australia, and found employment as a labourer.
On 25 January 1916, George enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force for service overseas during the First World War. [2] [3]
George married Florence May Booth on 16th September 1916 in the Baptist City Tabernacle, Wickham Terrace, Brisbane, Queensland. George embarked for the Western Front shortly afterward. [4]
He was allocated to the 25th Australian Infantry Battalion, 7th Brigade. On 20th September 1917, the battalion was part of the 2nd Division's first wave at the Battle of Menin Road in Belgium. [5] He was killed in that action. [6]
George Alexander Fraser Bremner's name is located at panel 103 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, and on the Baptist City Tabernacle Roll of Honour; he is buried in Hooge Crater Cemetery, Passchendaele, Flanders, Belgium. [7]
