Ruri Brendan Brennan was born on 24 Dec 1903 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia, son of Patrick Brennan (1868 - 1934) and Mary McCann (1871 - 1936)[1].

His siblings were:

Ruri (~30) married Lily May Cooper (~29) (~1905 - 1948) in 1934 in Perth[2].

Ruri was a timber worker.

On 15th May 1940 Ruri enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force for service during the Second World War (lowering his age by two years). He was posted to the 2/1st Australian Forestry Company, Royal Australian Engineers. [3] the two Australian forestry companies comprised experienced timbermen with a forester in charge and were initially intended to be deployed to France keep up the supply of the much-needed timber for to build bridges, roads, railways, army camps and to repair bombed buildings and quarters. When France collapsed in MAy 1940 they were diverted to Scotland. Some timber was even used for gliders and barges. He was discharged on 18th October 1946. [4] Ruri attained the senior non-commissioned rank of Staff Sergeant before being commissioned as a Lieutenant. He was Mentioned in Despatches (equivalent to today's Commendation for Gallantry), gazetted on 6th March 1947. [5].

Ruri died on 11 Apr 1977 in Western Australia aged 73. Ruri was cremated and his ashes scattered at Karrakatta Cemetery and Crematorium, Karrakatta, Nedlands City, Western Australia, Australia with a death date of 11 April 1977.[7][8].
