  • Ellen is a daughter of John Brenton and Mary Thomas.
  • 1912:- Marriage; WELLINGTON-BRENTON. The wedding was solemnized at the Bugle United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, in the presence of a large congregation, of Mr. Ernest Wellington, a native of Bugle (who recently returned from America), and Miss Kate Brenton, third daughter of Mrs. M. Brenton, and the late Mr. John Brenton, of Bugle. The bride, who was given away by her brother (Mr. Charles Brenton) wore a white silk mouscilienne-de-soie dress, with a tulle veil, and a wreath of orange blossoms, she also wore a gold curb bracelet, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, the gifts of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were the Misses Thora and Beatrice Brenton (sisters of the bride), who were attired in silk crepe-de-chene dresses of the lovely new maize shade, trimmed with Maltese lace, with lace hats to match; each carried bouquets of chrysanthemums, and wore gold bracelets (set with amethysts), the gifts of the bridegroom. Two little girls, Miss Teresa Higman (niece of bridegroom) and Miss Evelyn Pinch (niece of bride), wore silk dresses and Leghorn hats, also gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. John Wellington, of London, acted as "best man", and Mr. Preston Thomas as groomsman. The Rev. S. Westcott officiated. Bridal music was played by the organist, Mr. R. Payne, and the hymns "O Love Devine" and "The voice that breathed o'er Eden", were sung.
