Horatio was born in 1864 to Thomas Brenton and Hannah Bulmer. He married Helen May Eaton in 1892 and had 8 children (see below). Horatio lived in Moyie, British Columbia for some time in the Silver/Lead Mining industry - Moyie is now a ghosttown. He died in 1951 at Lacombe, Alberta and was buried at Fairview Cemetery. Horatio owned a Freight business in British Columbia. He was a farmer in Alberta where his homestead papers were registered with the Province of Alberta.

He came west in April 1899 to Moyie, British Columbia.
Moyie Leader 19 Sept. 1900: The wife and family of H.N. Brenton arrived here last Sunday from Springhill, Nova Scotia. Her brother Graham Eaton also arrived with her. She was accompanied by Mrs. Frank Nelson and 4 little children - she died shortly after of the fever leaving her husband to raise their children.
Moyie Leader 20 April 1905 - H.N. Brenton has disposed of his freight business to E.M. MacBeth.
