George Frederick was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, in 1892, the son of Thomas and Sarah Jane (Breen) Breslin.[1] He was a twin brother of Eliza Jane Breslin. He grew up in Boston, one of 12 children.[2] In 1910, he was 17 years old and employed as an office boy for a lawyer.[3]
At the time of the war draft registration in June 1917, he was living in Boston, Massachusetts, where he worked as a clerk for the American Telephone and Telegraph Co. He was described as being of a medium build, with blue eyes and brown hair.[4]
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 62.[5]
He enlisted in the 79th Aero Sq. on December 8, 1917, during World War 1. He was transferred in May, 1918, to the 275th Aero Sq, and then in August to Sq. E, Air Service Headquarters, Taliaferro Field, Texas. Earned promotions to Corporal (March 1918) and later Sergeant (November 1918).[6] He died of pneumonia and influenza a month later, in December of 1918.[7][8]
