William was born in about 1799 in Clapham, Surrey, England.[1]
William met his wife Elizabeth D'Arch while in Tasmania, [2] and they married on 16 March 1844 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. William was 44, Elizabeth was 24.[3]
William was a commander in the Royal Navy, retired at the time of the 1871 and 1881 censuses.[4][1]
