Harriett Brett was born in 1830 and christened in St Nicholas at Wade on 10 October 1830. She was the daughter of George Brett and Elizabeth Harlow.[1][2]
The family were living in St Nicholas St, St Nicholas at Wade, in 1841.[3]
They migrated to Sydney, Australia and travelled aboard the "Alfred" under the command of Captain William Saniegar Brett, her cousin. The ship arrived in Port Jackson, Sydney, on 10 January 1843.
