He is described in the Visitation of London 1568 as a citizen and Merchantaylor of London, the eldest son of Robert Brett of Lincolnshire, gent, and Elizabeth Bush, daughter of Edward Bush of Sison.[1]
He married on 18 May 1555 at Allhallows, Bread Street, City of London.[2] The register doesn't name his wife - Robarte Breyt and (blank) - but in the Visitation of London 1568 she is named as Elizabeth daughter of Reginald Highgate of Essex.[3]
His will was dated 18 Mar 1585/6, and probated on 26 Apr 1586. [4]In it he named his wife Elizabeth and his six children - John, William, Robert, Richard, Alexander and Catherine. This differs from the Visitation which shows Elizabeth rather than Alexander.
