Nicholas Brett, b. about 1700, lived in Foulsham and was church clerk at nearby Themelthorpe.
Nicholas married Susan Bridge by licence at Cawston on 14 August 1712. He was of the parish of Sparham.[1]
His daughter, Susannah Brett, b. 1721, m. Daniel Gill of Norwich, England, and this couple had several children including Daniel Gill b. Oct. 1, 1756, and James Gill b. June 06, 1758, and Lawrence b. 1761 (same first name as a brother also named Lawrence who d. young). The oldest son, Daniel, b. 1756, signed up for the British Army in Rhode Island in 1777 and served in the British Army during the American Revolutionary War (54th Regiment of Foot). After the war was over in 1783, he went to Canada with his unit. Daniel deserted with a comrade in 1787 and came to the United States.
