Johann Georg Bretthauer was born 14 Jun 1871 (church records list 19 Jun 1871) in Walter, Volga, Russia and baptized on 20 Jun 1871.[1][2] He was confirmed in the church in Frank, Saratov, Russia.
George married Eva Denner in 1898 in Russia. They came to America in 1913 with their children to Pomona, Kansas where family had settled.
George and Eva settled in Scottsbluff, Nebraska where the family were beet laborers. German-Russia settlers were known as "beeters", as their previous Russian experience produced an abundance of sugar in Nebraska and Colorado.[3]
George Bretthauer passed away in 1935 after an illness.
