Katharina Elisabetha Bretthauer born on 15 Jun 1881 in Seelmann, Samara, Volga, Russia. She was the daughter of Wilhelm Bretthauer and Maria Seltenreich. The Brunnental Communion records lists her month of birth as July which could have been a transcription error or the correct month. She was christened on 16 Oct 1882 in Brunnental, Saratov, Volga, Russia. [Note: baptism a full year and three months later which was unusual, possible either records or transcription in error as to year.]^[1][2]

On 28 Nov 1898, Katherina married Johann Lesser in Karlsruhe, South Russia.^[3]

On 22 October 1908, the Lesser family departed Liverpool, England via S.S. Kensington for America.^[4]

They arrived on 3 Nov 1908 in the Quebec port.^[5]
