Research Notes

The 1900 census lists Edwin C. Brewer, b. Dec. 1872 in Conn. (like his parents), m. to Ada E., b. Sept 1875, living in Meriden, Conn. They were married about 1891 (when Ada was about 16!). Children: Ethel L., Charles E., Emma E., Henry S. (Note that our Charles Brewer's mother's name was "Emma." Also note that the parents of our Charles lived in Meridan in 1900.)

From "The Bridgeport Times and Evening Farmer," CT, Oct, 13, 1909, p. 4,

Wedding bells rang yesterday for well known young people. ... Charles E. Brewer was united to Mrs. Mary E. Rice. [Same couple?]

The 1910 census lists Charles E. Brewer, b. abt 1873 in Conn. (like his parents), m. to Mary, b. abt 1878 (his 2nd marriage, her 3rd), living on Wood St, Bridgeport, Conn. They were married about 1910. Children: Ethel L., Charles E., Emma E.

World War I draft registration lists Charles Edwin Brewer, b. Dec. 8, 1872, living at 131 Wood Ave, Bridgeport, Conn. Married to Mary E., and living at 131 Wood Ave, Bridgeport.

In 1920, Charles E. and Mary E. Brewer were still living at 131 Wood, Bridgeport.

In 1930, Edward C. and Mary E. Brewer were living at 59 Rennell St, Bridgeport.

All 6 of the above Charles Brewers are certainly the same person. The question is, is this Charles E. Brewer the son of Charles and Emma Brewer? Given the amount of circumstantial evidence, I will assume so.

According to his World War I draft registration, he was of medium height and build, with blue eyes and brown hair.
