George Brewer Sr. Records The date of birth of George Brewer Sr. was from MyHeritage: George Brewer was born about 1635 in Belgium. The parents of George Brewer Sr. were unavailable. The marriage of George Brewer Sr. and Ann _____ was from “MD Early Settlers”. George Brewer with Ann, his wife, transported 1658 by Lt. Col. Jarboe. The date of death of George Brewer Sr. was from MyHeritage: George Brewer died about 1676 in SMC MD. Anne _____, parents unknown, was born about 1640. From Skordas “Early Settlers of MD”: George Brewer transported 1658 by Lt. Col. Jarboe with Ann, his wife. MD Hall of Records: “George Brewer demands land for himself and Ann, his wife, transported about nine years since and served their time with Lt. Col. Jarboe. These rights proved in usual form the 9th of May, 1667, before me, Phillip Calvert.” A notation reads: “Warrant issued in the name of George Brewer for 100 acres of land due to him for the consideration aforesaid.” The land patented by George Brewer was in Chaptico Hundred in SMC MD named “Prattlewell”. “Archives of Maryland” Vol. 65: Court judgment against George Brewer Sr., who lost a case in 1674 involving a debt of 4,400 pounds of tobacco which he owed to John Quigley. “Prattlewell” 1667: George Brewer owned 100 acres in Chaptico. 1707: George Brewer Jr. owned 100 acres of “Prattlewell”: Rent Rolls in Chaptico. From Leona Hilsabeck: A tradition among Brewer descendants that their ancestors came from the Low Countries may be true. Many English Catholics moved to Belgian Cities where they could freely educate their children. From Jim Brewer: It would seem that the Brewers were transported in the same ship in which Charles, Lord Baltimore, traveled to MD to assume his proprietorship, about 1658/59. “Turvey” was located almost next door to “Prattlewell”. St. Aloysius Parish was built about 1766 on the same estate as “Turvey”. “Valentines Grove” was probably also a part of “Prattlewell”. George Brewer Sr. was possibly deceased prior to 1704 because the Calvert Rent Rolls of that year show “Prattlewell” in the possession of George Brewer Jr. It seems likely that George and Ann Brewer came to MD shortly after their marriage and were childless when they came or they would have received more land in 1667. No will or probate records of the estate of George Brewer Sr. appear to have survived.
