Biography
Robert Brewster was born in Forncett St Peter, Norfolk, England.
Robert Spicer Brewster was born on the 29th August 1798, the son of William Brewster and Susanna Spicer. He was received into the congregation of Forncett St.Peter on the 30th May 1799 "having been baptised before on 2nd September 1798." [1]
Like his grandfather John Brewster, Robert Spicer Brewster became a carpenter, like his grandfather too, Robert learned his trade in Norwich, and married there. It appears that he was looking forward to sufficient work in Yarmouth to have moved his family there permanently. It would be interesting to know what was behind Robert's visit to Forncett St. Peter. Was this just a simple family visit that ended tragically?
Robert Brewster and Susanna Margarum were married by Banns on 24th September 1821 in the parish of St Paul, Norwich, Norfolk, England; in the presence of Ann Muhadley and George Boltz. [2]
The burials for 1822 in the Parish Records of Forncett St. Peter record the burials on July 26th of Susan Brewster of Yarmouth aged 15 weeks, and on August 27th of Robert Brewster aged 24 years, also from Yarmouth. This suggests that Robert Brewster was working as a carpenter in Yarmouth at the time that he brought his daughter Susan to visit his family in Forncett St. Peter. [3]
